What is a Senior Home Safety Assessment?
Our commitment is to provide you with the information and support you need to create a safe and comfortable home environment for yourself or your loved one.
A Senior Home Safety Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of a senior's living environment, designed to identify and mitigate potential hazards that could compromise their safety and independence. This assessment goes beyond a simple walk-through; it's a meticulous examination of every aspect of the home, focusing on the unique needs and challenges faced by older adults.
Our certified Senior Home Safety Specialists conduct thorough evaluations, considering factors such as:
Fall Prevention: Assessing tripping hazards, uneven flooring, inadequate lighting, and the presence of grab bars or handrails.
Accessibility: Evaluating the ease of movement within the home, including doorways, hallways, stairs, and bathroom access.
Lighting: Analyzing the adequacy and placement of lighting fixtures to minimize shadows, glare, and potential visual impairments.
Bathroom Safety: Examining the accessibility of showers, tubs, and toilets, and recommending modifications such as grab bars, raised toilet seats, and non-slip mats.
Kitchen Safety: Evaluating the layout and accessibility of appliances, cabinets, and countertops, and recommending solutions such as pull-down shelving and adjustable workstations.
Emergency Preparedness: Assessing the presence of smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and emergency contact information.
General Home Safety: Identifying potential fire hazards, medication management issues, and other safety concerns.
Following the assessment, we provide a detailed report outlining identified hazards and offering practical, personalized recommendations for modifications and improvements. Our goal is to empower seniors to age in place safely and comfortably, maintaining their independence and quality of life.
